Paul M. Wayans Champions Diversity in Film at Reel Works

This Black History Month, we’re spotlighting Paul M. Wayans, Reel Works’ Development Manager. From his roots in the Bronx, to working with producing visionaries in music, fashion and art Paul has found his true calling in the nonprofit industry where he creates opportunities for NYC’s emerging talent.

"I've seen how limited access to the Entertainment or Media industry is for underserved communities," said Paul. "Being at Reel Works is about showing our youth that careers in media and beyond are possible - especially for kids from inner-city backgrounds who may not see these paths as open to them. We're redefining what's possible by creating real opportunities."

Wayans’ community leadership spans from his undergraduate years at The College of Brockport, SUNY, where he championed change and promoted cultural awareness through his social and organizational influence.

At Reel Works, Paul continues to make an impact by creating intentional, accessible spaces that champion our students and their work, providing them with opportunities to network upward across industries.

After four years in nonprofits, Paul reflects on his purpose of creating space for authentic storytelling: “It's about being in a space where I can be creative and push forward narratives that truly matter - stories that can change how our communities see themselves and what they can achieve.”
