Changing the Conversation: Diverse Perspectives Take Center Stage at the MediaMKRS Summit
The 2025 MediaMKRS Summit at Paramount Global in New York City united 224 industry professionals around a singular vision: an inclusive media and entertainment landscape. Guests engaged in honest, solution-driven conversations that confronted systemic barriers and reimagined an industry where equity is an operating principle. In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the three Reel Works alumni, Alondra Jimenez, Alicia Rosado, and Alexa James-Carden who spoke at the event.
Learning From Rising Talent
Alondra, Alicia, and Alexa joined moderator Shirley Vernae Williams for "Investing in Impact: Why These Programs Matter." The conversation highlighted the stark contrast between the industry's composition and the vibrant diversity celebrated among Summit attendees. By elevating these young professionals' voices, the afternoon demonstrated the tangible impact of targeted development programs and provided industry leaders with firsthand insights into creating truly inclusive environments that nurture talent.
Pathways to Success: In Their Words
"What I appreciate about MediaMKRS is that they gave me room and space…anyone else that wants to join the program or wants to be in the film industry, there is room for you," said Alicia, a Reel Futures Media Interns Program (RFMI) graduate. "The MediaMKRS Summit was a proud moment to look back on how far I've come in the industry since graduating from RFMI. It was a day to celebrate our experiences so more doors can open for anyone who wants to work in the industry while changing it for the better."
Alondra, another RFMI alumna, described the MediaMKRS Summit as "an honor to connect with industry leaders dedicated to supporting emerging talent and to share this space with peers who are shaping the future of film and television."
These testimonials illustrate MediaMKRS' impact: not only in providing technical skills but creating safe spaces for underrepresented voices to develop confidence, build professional networks, and ultimately reshape the industry from within. Their success stands as compelling evidence for industry leaders that investing in diverse talent yields exceptional professionals who bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches.
Building a More Representative Industry
The prominence of these accomplished women at the MediaMKRS Summit demonstrates a viable blueprint for addressing the industry's diversity crisis. By connecting emerging talent directly with industry decision-makers, Reel Works creates dialogues that illuminate the structural changes needed to build truly inclusive environments.
MediaMKRS’ workforce development programs serve as crucial pipelines that nurture the confidence and connections for rising professionals to thrive. The success of alumni like Alondra, Alicia, and Alexa proves that when given equitable opportunities and meaningful support, new talent excels.
