MediaMKRS Alumni Kelly Alfonso on Creating Her Latest Film

Emerging filmmaker and Reel Works alumni Kelly has announced her new film, Dreamland. In our exclusive interview, she shared that creating Dreamland was a journey of self-discovery and a culmination of various projects and trajectories, like the Center Stage Beauty Podcast.

With an extensive production background, Kelly relied on her Reel Works community when creating this film. Fostering a collaborative environment for Dreamland's team was pivotal in its creation. Kelly said, "Community was key to this project's success. I executive produced the film and my husband Todd S. Jolly produced it. Thanks to Reel Works we were able to work with Violet Giallo as our Director, Josh Vargas as the Cinematographer and Massandje Savane as our BTS Videographer. It takes a village to bring great work to life. This process has shown me that you can wear many hats, but everyone around you offers specific talents."

Kelly also spoke about how her time with Reel Works played an enduring role in her development as a filmmaking professional and creative. As a MediaMKRS alumni, IATSE 798 member and Center Stage Beauty Podcast Host, she hopes to pay it forward, "I always think of inspiring the many individuals that I encounter. I have a sense of urgency when it comes to fulfilling my dreams and creating a path that others can follow and be mentored."

Dreamland, which premieres on Thursday, May 30th at 5PM on Youtube, is an inspiring tale of self-discovery and courage. The film follows three versions of Kelly: Professional Kelly, Conscious Kelly, and Fairy Godmother. Each version arrives at a crossroads and becomes forced to take a significant leap of faith.

We are privileged to chat with Kelly and learn more about her new film. We invite you to watch Dreamland and immerse yourself in this powerful testament to self-determination.
