Highlight: Josue Urioso, Studio Mechanics Bootcamp

Josue Urioso, 23, is one of eight Studio Mechanics Boot Camp recent graduates who participated in a 12- week intensive electrician training program. Josue is a first-generation Mexican American who has been working as a Production Assistant on commercial and short film projects. Twice a week he commuted from Staten Island to Astoria, Queens to learn from I.A.T.S.E. Local 52 union members the fundamentals of the electric craft.

Josue came into the training with little experience but had a strong desire to work on union sets. He has learned how difficult it is to get union work and was excited at the opportunity to be a part of this first cohort. Through this training program, he learned what career pathways exist within the union's electric department and what to expect on set. Ultimately, Josue wants to be apart of creating content that reflects the diversity within his communit
