However, what separates a good dancer from a great dancer is one thing - artistry.” Beauty of the Rose by Michael Cummings (Mentor: Diana Dekajlo) takes us through a young dancer’s journey to become a true artist. Michael shared with us the process of making his film: “My experience with making my film was pretty difficult however very fun. It was difficult trying to duplicate the vision I had in my head and turning it into a reality. Whether it was delaying the timing of the title or adding a different layer of sound or taking out a part where I said something that misdirected the theme, it was the most difficult and tedious part of the process. Along with that, figuring out how I can manipulate the audience’s emotion to where I pleased. Do I want them to be sad at this part or should that be later? Should they feel happy or would that be an odd place for them to feel that? As I struggled with these things, it made me realize the beauty of the process and the beauty of art which was fun and rewarding at the end.”Reel Works presents “Movie of the Week” to showcase the exemplary films made by our young filmmakers.
