The students, staff and board of Reel Works are proud to welcome Christopher Poindexter, Esq., Vice President, Legal of Cross Media-Works, to our board of directors.

A native of Virginia, Chris is the Senior Legal Officer at Cross Media-Works, one of the leading media services firms in the country.  A father of two, he has a lifelong passion for writing and filmmaking.   Since graduating Columbia University School of Law, Chris has assisted other young filmmakers by investing, producing and providing legal advice for their projects before deciding to write and produce his first short, "Their Eyes Were Watching Gummy Bears".

Chris brings his commitment to his community and passion for storytelling to Reel Works.  "Reel Works is cultivating the next generation of filmmakers amongst those who are typically underrepresented in the media world," says Chris.  "There is no other organization in the city that is doing more to train young people who are often not heard with the skills to tell their own stories through the medium of film and television."[vimeo:https://vimeo.com/74234409]

Reel Works' Board Chair, Benjamin E. Marks, Esq., Partner at Weil Gotshal Manges LLP adds "We are delighted to welcome Chris to the Board of Directors.  His energy and passion for filmmaking will be tremendous assets to Reel Works."

Over the past few years, Reel Works has grown dramatically - having doubled the number of youth we serve to 400 annually and expanded from a single Brooklyn location to bring our award winning workshops into the classrooms public schools citywide.  Our workforce development programs train teens and young adults for careers in film & TV and our student's films are seen by nearly a million viewers across all media each year.Mr. Poindexter joins a nine-member board of directors that plays an active role in guiding Reel Works' strategic growth and making sure the resources are in place to serve our mission of giving NYC teens a mentor, a voice and a future.ABOUT REEL WORKS
