Reel Works takes part in Paramount Community Day!
For several years, Reel Works has had the wonderful opportunity to partner with Paramount and participate in the Paramount Community Day. Volunteers came together from all backgrounds with the purpose to give back to young filmmakers in our programs.
The event launched with Reel Works Board Member Dayo Harewood, Vice President and Group Creative Director at Paramount, who welcomed everyone to the space and shared about his connection with Reel Works.
With over 100 attendees, students were split into different breakout rooms where they were able to receive invaluable feedback on their rough cuts and current projects in a more intimate setting.
Shuxiang Huang, a Reel Works Alumni working on an independent project, shared “[Paramount Community Day] was very helpful. I received good feedback when I shared with them what my project was about and what I have been working on. The process helped me articulate my next steps.”
In addition, students also received a chance to meet with different industry professionals and understand different career pathways that are available to them.
Reel Works Narrative Lab Filmmaker and Ambassador Shan Andrei Pangilinan shared, “It was nice meeting people and getting feedback from Paramount employees. I received feedback around color correction and now I know I need to work on that. It's nice learning from other people and seeing how they do things in their field.”
Our students look forward to participating in this wonderful community event again next year!
