Meet Job Training Coordinator Cameron Amstater

Cameron Amstater joined Reel Works in August in the new role of Job Training Coordinator supporting Reel Works’ workforce development program, called MediaMKRS. She is working with the MediaMKRS team to support the many Job Training programs that aid in the advancement of media careers for early career professionals. Additionally, she will be supporting the graduates of all of the MediaMKRS programs, including the MediaMKRS Career Exploration Program, which provides internship opportunities to high school students and young adults.

Cameron is coming to Reel Works after working in the New York TV and Film production industry for over 11 years. As a summer intern on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart she became addicted to the fast-paced environment and high intensity of production. After moving up from Production Assistant to Showrunner’s Assistant to Assistant Production Coordinator over 5 seasons on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, she joined the IATSE Local 161 Union and spent the next 7 years working as a freelance Production Coordinator, Travel Coordinator and even Covid Coordinator on projects such the NBCUniversal’s Mr. Robot, FX’s Pose, HBO’s Succession and Netflix’s Tick, Tick… Boom!.

One of her favorite aspects of being a Production Coordinator was the opportunity to give that first foot in the door to young adults who were just entering the industry and provide mentorship and guidance as they began navigating the complicated and non-lateral world of production. She is thrilled to bring this passion to Reel Works and be able to work with tremendously talented and eager grads with such bright futures.

Cameron is also the co-chair of the Young Professionals Council of ReadWorks, an ed-tech non-profit whose mission is to increase reading comprehension and literacy in the US and loves to spend time volunteering with Little Essentials, a family-centered organization that provides children’s supplies and parenting education to at-risk families living in poverty in New York City. Cameron lives in Brooklyn, NY with her two children and husband, who also works in TV/Film Production.
