MediaMKRS Career Exploration Graduate Joins the CBS Page Program

Hope Obi began the MediaMKRS Career Exploration program with an associate’s in early childhood education and no media experience. Throughout her time in MediaMKRS, Hope took internships that helped her learn more about media and gain experience in the industry.

Her first internship with the program combined her education background and her passion for media as an intern with the New York International Children’s Film Festival. Through that experience she wanted to learn more about how films were made and selected. She pursued a development internship with Maven Pictures where she put her Industry Upskill Credential in Script Coverage to good use.

After graduating from Lehman College in May, Hope felt confident that she wanted to continue to pursue a media career where she could create her own content. She wanted a program where she could continue to explore and develop as a creative. Through a supporter of the MediaMKRS program and ViacomCBS employee named Tom Cowell, Hope was able to connect to the CBS Page Program where she applied, interviewed and was accepted.

“It’s given me a new look into the entertainment industry,” Hope said. “I help create pieces for the producers, so I am working closely with the producers to find out what they want.” As someone who is interested in creating content of their own, the deeper understanding of how projects get made and what gets selected offers valuable insight that Hope can use as she develops as a creator herself.

Although Hope began the program with no connections in the media industry, through MediaMKRS, she was able to apply her talents to new opportunities and is building her own network. We are so excited for the incredible future that is in store for her!
