“The present-day American landscape is of alternative, absorbing and riveting perspectives.” Elijah’s film features modern scenery that he feels is largely unstable. “Convenience stores, fast food restaurants, mall plazas, and parking lots are sanctuaries that elude from the harsh reality.” Screen Shot 2019-02-22 at 4.41.35 PMFreedonia tells a story about a visitor breaking new ground and rebelling against the system and the grungy world in its surreal state. The viewer is drawn into this world where the landscape is a character. The film is an engrossing experience with rhythmic editing and repetition to inspire a sense of groundlessness.Screen Shot 2019-02-22 at 4.41.49 PMThe Summer Lab is a four-week intensive experimental filmmaking workshop for rising 9th and 10th graders.
