Movie of the Week: Cruelty-Free by Daphne Parkhill

A tender, young vegan joins a sorority in Cruelty-Free, written and directed by Daphne Parkhill. (Mentor: Alex Faoro) When asked about the challenges she faced during the Narrative Lab, Daphne shared, “I used to be in a lot of theater and I felt that I know how directors speak to actors, but it was not easy at all. I think it was possibly the hardest part of the class, but it was a great learning experience for me.”“This was by far the largest scale project I’ve ever put together in my life so far, and therefore it was a big learning experience for me. Staying committed to the same idea for a whole year, and going through every step of the process having to defend and stand by my work was a difficult thing to do. But I think I can speak for everyone in the class when I say we got a lot out of the process and created things we’re immensely proud of,” Daphne reflected.Reel Works presents “Movie of the Week” to showcase the exemplary films made by our young filmmakers.
