The night was a huge success with over 350 attendees, raising more than $300,000 to support free filmmaking programs for talented NYC youth.We were thrilled to honor actress, playwright and star of The Walking Dead and Black Panther, Danai Gurira; actor and star of FOX’s The Resident, Manish Dayal; and comedian, NY Times bestselling author, podcaster, actress and creator & co-host of HBO’s 2 Dope Queens, Phoebe Robinson. We thank them for their accomplishments that make it possible for our young filmmakers to envision a future where their stories matter, and their voices are heard.At the gala, we awarded Gabriela Carrera with the F. John Outcalt Award for Outstanding Filmmaking. Gabriela was a finalist among 5 filmmakers who were chosen by her peers. Her film, Mis Dolores, was selected by a panel of leading media professionals.
