The Documentary Fellows

MAKE A FILM! WORK WITH A PRO! TELL YOUR STORY!

The Doc Fellows is an intensive, 24-week after-school filmmaking workshop that pairs NYC teens, who have made a film before or are graduates from our Doc Lab, with professional filmmaker mentors to create short personal films about their lives and communities. This is a free, advanced course to diver deeper into documentary filmmaking for students with previous filmmaking experience. Students will be paired 1:1 with a professional filmmaker mentor. Filmmakers will work collaboratively to create a documentary film, taking on one of three tracks: Cinematographer, Editor, and Story Producer. Applicants will be interviewed before entering the program, as we have limited spots.

This workshop is a hybrid program that will meet online and in-person at Reel Works' office in Gowanus, Brooklyn. If students are not able to meet in person, we can make accommodations for them. Reel Works will be following the COVID-19 guidelines and recommendations put forth by nyc.gov.
