Meet Anna Wang, Grants Manager
Anna Wang joined Reel Works in September as Grants Manager. In this role, Anna writes and oversees a growing portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government grants to support Reel Works' robust programming. She engages funders and seeks to build new and lasting relationships with the ultimate intention of expanding access to quality arts education and media career readiness for young artists, especially those in under-resourced communities.
Anna graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Industrial & Labor Relations and a minor in Film. As an undergraduate, Anna completed an honors thesis exploring youth migrant worker culture in South China.
Before joining Reel Works, Anna was a Program Officer at New York Foundation for the Arts. She worked closely with the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment to administer the NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music, and Theatre project-based grants to address the underrepresentation of women in the industry. Prior to that role, she was teaching youth filmmaking, grant writing, and programming feature films with Light House Studio and Vinegar Hill Theatre in Charlottesville, Virginia.
On her role with Reel Works, Anna shared, “I’m excited to be joining the Reel Works team to secure funding for this community of young artists. Growing up in upstate New York, we didn’t have opportunities like this to get involved with other aspiring filmmakers or learn about the industry. It’s great to be able to support programming through experimental, documentary, and narrative workshops and connecting the community to internships and IATSE union job training.”
Anna is a film/video artist working in digital and 16mm formats. She enjoys cooking, film screenings, live music, and foraging wild mushrooms. Anna lives in Brooklyn with her cattle dog, Sukie.
