J&M Special Effects Trip

Participants from various Reel Works programs, including the 2019 Summer Lab,attended a field trip to J&M Special Effects. The second the doors opened, jaws were already dropping as students were met by a massive fake shark.JM_SpecialFX_GroupParticipants were given a tour of the entire studio during which they gained insight into the business of special effects and the science behind J&M's amazing displays. Demonstrations ranged from over-looming floor fog, that is quite often used in horror films, to a snow machine, and fire torches.IMG_2893IMG_1895The students were overflowing with questions which were fondly answered by the tour guide. She also shared her story of how she got into the effects industry, along with the skills and character needed in order to succeed.
