Our high school seniors shared their college application experiences with the group. They talked about their regrets, challenges, and what they learned about their college application process.“I was stressed because I submitted my application a week before it was due, and I ended up getting in and it was worth it,” shared Jada. Poyshel shared, “Submitting all the applications on time such as FASFA was very difficult. I would start it early.” Reel Works college freshmen (Hillary Safadi, Crystal del Valle, Deborah Miller, and Wei Ye Ng) came back to relay their first-year experiences in college:“Your major isn’t your career. So many people study different things and come out to do something else that is not related to their major,” Crystal shared. When asked about dorming on campus or commuting, Hillary shared, “Everyone has a different experience with dorming - sometimes you might end up with a crazy roommate. The experience really varies and you have to be aware that you have to pay for it on top of your tuition.” We also made a special announcement about the Meringoff Victory Prize competition. Nicole Chow was selected as a runner-up of the award and Jensen Fresnel was selected as one of the ten winners of the Meringoff Victory Prize. They both received scholarship money that will help them for college! It was great to see our high school seniors give advice to current students, and for our college freshmen to share their experiences. We had rich and intimate conversations where students could honestly share their challenges and learn from the experiences of their peers!
