Movie of the Week: The Letter by Eddie Morales

A tribute to his time in New York, Eddie Morales’ film “The Letter” is a goodbye letter to New York City. As he traces his start in Brooklyn where he was born and raised, Eddie talks about how he looks forward to the palm trees of Orlando - his soon to be new home. Screen Shot 2019-05-13 at 4.45.02 PMDespite what he has to look forward to, he finds himself missing New York: “I miss the crowds of tourists speaking foreign tongues, the street performers, singing, dancing, and playing instruments in the subway. I miss goofing around with my best friend with Maurice… in 7 days this will be my past.” Screen Shot 2019-05-13 at 4.36.53 PMEddie ends his film with advice to his viewers as he prepares to leave: “You can love New York, but the streets of New York won’t love you back… I’m tougher and wiser because of New York.” Reel Works presents “Movie of the Week” to showcase the exemplary films made by our young filmmakers.
