Movie of the Week: Caged by Jensen Fresnel

“Caged” by Jensen Fresnel tells the story of a young woman who must choose between her family and her art.“My experience in Narrative was very educational I never thought making films was such a difficult and stressful process,” Jensen shared. “I learn to write a screenplay and to direct. The Narrative lab showed how the rest of my filmmaking career will look -  long and difficult with a lot of challenges to overcome.”On the set of Jensen’s shoot, he told us that he didn’t expect to be in charge. In the class, students learn to develop their own narrative film from start to finish. Jensen gained experience writing a script, shooting his film, and editing it into a final product. His film was screened at HBO theaters on October 10th with 6 other filmmakers his class.Jensen was supported by his peers who helped him on his shoot. He also recruited three Reel Works staff who played supporting and minor roles in his film. Narrative Lab students produce their own films, but also learn to work collaboratively with each other throughout the class. Reel Works presents “Movie of the Week” to showcase the exemplary films made by our young filmmakers.
