Movie of the Week: Flat Spot by Chaoming Xue

Flat Spot by Chaoming Xue is about the friendship of two young skateboarders and how it is tested when one of them runs into his longtime crush. (Mentor: Barrett Schuler) Chao shares, “The making of Flat Spot taught me the importance of teamwork. With a strong crew behind me, I was able to share the responsibility involving the logistic side of filming. It enabled me to go wild with my creativity.” When asked about what advice he would give to other young filmmakers, Chao said: “I would say have a vision. If you have a strong vision in the beginning, you will go a long way. Especially if you have the whole crew together that you trust and love.” Reel Works presents “Movie of the Week” to showcase the exemplary films made by our young filmmakers.
