Welcome 2017 Fall Lab

We were thrilled to accept 16 students - chosen from a near-record 68 applicants - into the 2017 Fall Documentary Lab Workshop.The Fall Lab will be taught by Filmmaker in Residence, Vinay Chowdhry, a part-time Assistant Professor at the School of Media Arts, The New School for Public Engagement.Students will meet every Monday and Tuesday for the 20-week long program. Through this course, students will learn all about storytelling and obtain basic camera techniques. Our program is unique in that it pairs each student with his or her own professional filmmaker-mentor. Our one-on-one mentorship model provides individualized attention for each student - helping them unleash their talents and creating a powerful documentary about his or her life and community.The lab students recently had their first badge bowl, where students were badged in camera maintenance and story structure.
