Field Trip to Photoville

Spring and Summer Lab students visited Photoville during their 2017 Education Day, an annual festival that featured over 55 exhibitions and 500 artists. The exhibitions they visited were: War is Only Half the Story, My Shot- Portraits from Hamilton Contact Hight and Insider/Outsider which explores the relationships between storytelling and the subject.

A favorite amongst our Reel Works students was Contact Hight, which spotlights the photographers who have played a critical role in bringing hip-hop and music culture imagery onto the global stage. They spoke with 3 artists, asking questions about getting access, what it was like behind the scenes, and their editing process.

They enjoyed student led panel discussions and brought up interesting questions for their peers in the media industry.
