town hall 2Teen Voices, presented by Reel Works' Junior Advisory Board, was a chance for past and present students to share their experiences during their course of time at Reel Works, and also give feedback of what they would like to see in the future.Students from the current lab (Fall 2014) and students from the past came out to share their thoughts. Students who made an appearance were given a chance to answer surveys and submit anonymously to JAB's question box. As president of JAB, I joined other JAB members to facilitate a Q&A session of what students requested to see happen at Reel Works in the future. The majority of students in the group voted on going on trips that are film related (such as movie studios, tv/movies shoots, etc) to gain a better idea of how it feels to be on set. Students also expressed interest in learning about different jobs in film/media, as well as techniques and skills from professionals in the industry.town hall 1Students from the current lab brought up an important question: What's the next step? Many students stated that would like to receive academic help and guidance on working on next film projects and landing film-related internships.Overall many students had positive feedback on Reel Works and how it gave them the opportunity to share their stories through filmmaking in safe learning environment. Countless students enjoyed their labs and instructors, and learned many skills they would that they will value in their future.Written by Tayana Brumaire, Spring Lab '14 & Fall Lab '14
