Reel Works welcome Viacom volunteers for ViaCommunity day
On May 16th, Viacom employees came together with Reel Works Teens for ViaCommunity Day. Six volunteers visited the lab in Gowanus, Brooklyn, and shared their experiences working in the media industry. The Reel Works teens were also able to screen their works in progress to positive feedback from the volunteers. “I was impressed with how diverse the group from Viacom was. It’s great to know that Viacom is doing something like this to help the community” said Reel Works Filmmaker Dexter Dugar. Volunteer Dewey Cadell echoed those sentiments “I’m just floored by this program, I wish I had something like this when I was in High School.”After a welcome session and orientation by Artistic Director and Co-Founder Stephanie Walter Williams, the Viacom team gave valuable insights to Reel Works Productions on marketing and outreach to corporate clients. Labber Asta “Star” Cummings said ”They taught us a lot about marketing and branding for our own films and how important it is to be unique.”Reel Works thanks Viacom and all of the volunteers who made ViaCommunity Day such a special one for our filmmakers.
